The Trend Report

2023 has been a tidal wave of fashion trends, ranging from both ends of the spectrum from casual to formal. Some of the most popular and seen on TikTok are Y2K Glitz, Mermaidcore, Coastal Cowgirl, Quiet Luxury, Old Money Aesthetic, Vanilla Girl, Cluttercore, Rockstar Girlfriend, and many many more. Outside of gaining millions of views and comments of adoration on TikTok, some of these new trends have a lot in common in regard to color palettes and fabric choice.

For example, three of the popular styles: Quiet Luxury, Old Money Aesthetic, and Vanilla Girl focus on simpler fabrics like linen in neutral shades of earth tones; these outfits are typically simple with streamlined silhouettes.

This first look is a classic quiet luxury outfit, a comfy yet classy sweat-suit paired with a taupe heel and tote.

Directly below, is the less mainstream but still trending look, Vanilla Girl; the idea behind this trend is to be a versatile palette cleanser for minimalist shoppers looking for something new.

On the left, in a pale green sweater vest over an oversized blouse, notably accessorized by pump sandals and a headband, is the super popular Old Money Aesthetic. Several icons like Hailey Bieber and Shay Mitchell have been incorporating this aesthetic into their daily looks for some time now, however, Sofia Richie’s recent nuptials are what brought the spotlight on Old Money outfits.

The masses were obsessed with the simple yet stunning elegance of her all-Chanel bridal weekend. Particularly, her rehearsal dinner cocktail dress in eggshell, and her ceremony dress with details of handwoven lace. If that doesn’t scream Old Money aesthetic I don’t know what will! Props to Sofia for setting the standard with her wedding, and inspiring a generation to explore different fashions.
