This year's Met Gala, hosted by Vogue, took place the evening of May 1st. As usual, Anna Wintour, Vogue Editor-In-Chief and virtual Queen of the Gala, tasked the partygoers with a tricky theme: an in memoriam
Now this may sound morbid, but for my fellow fashion lovers it is actually quite interesting and creative. The theme for the event was inspired by the Costume Institute's spring show "Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty". For those that know, Karl Lagerfeld was the creative powerhouse behind many prominent European luxury brands like Balmain, Patou, and Chloé, and Chanel until his death in 2019. The Met Gala has maintained a historic presence as the fashion event of the season so it makes sense they would choose this event to honor one of the greats.
Since the event anticipation has had me on the edge of my seat for the past couple of weeks, I eagerly spent this evening stalking the styles and art through Vogue's event coverage.
Here's the rundown of some of my most-loved looks of the evening >

Cardi B looks absolutely stunning in her 3D Chenpeng Studio ensemble. The white wig and black gloves are the perfect contrast to balance the look. (right)

Angele truly embodies classic beauty in this traditional yet unique Chanel dress. Bonus points for the belt 😍😍😍

Serena Williams and her husband Alexis Ohanian bring another twist on classic to the Gala in their correlating Gucci ensembles. I love the tulle bottom of the dress but have overall mixed emotions about the dress. Alexis' tuxedo is well-tailored but I wish it was not as plain and simple or basic as a prom tux. What were your fave and least fave looks of the year?
