Over the weekend, entertainers, models, actresses, and many more celebrities gathered to celebrate the annual Cannes Film Festival. The film festival is an international collaborative effort to appreciate the arts and preview new films. The organization behind the festival, Festival de Cannes released this statement about the event: “After 11 days of an exceptional edition, the Jury of the 76th Festival de Cannes, chaired by Swedish director Ruben Östlund, surrounded by Moroccan director Maryam Touzani, French actor Denis Ménochet, British-Zambian screenwriter & director Rungano Nyoni, American actress & director Brie Larson, American actor & director Paul Dano, Afghan author Atiq Rahimi, Argentinian director & screenwriter Damián Szifron and French director Julia Ducournau, presented its winners’ list among the 21 films presented in Competition this year” (Festival de Cannes).
I have yet to view any of the previews from the award-winners, but this star-studded cast of judges makes me excited to start. The festival’s most prestigious award, “Palme D’or” was awarded to the film, Anatomie D’une Chute (Anatomy Of A Fall) directed By Justine Triet; this will be the first film on my watchlist for the festival!
